four month check up

Since we'll be out of town next week when Charlotte officially turns four months, we went to her appointment today. She weighed 13 lbs 12 oz (61st percentile) and was 24 3/4" (75th percentile) long. She had more shots =( and had the saddest scream/cry. This time Ben held her little arms down and I sat in the back. It's so fun to see her grow and learn. She is the happiest little baby and we are madly in love with her.
Waiting for her visit.
After she was weighed and measured the nurse gave her the cutest and softest teddy bear that she LOVED (see below video).
Buds.
This is one of her pediatricians, Dr. Shahid. We LOVE him. He is the kindest man who really listens and takes his time. Last time we saw him he was bald because he did a Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca in December and I guess they shave their heads at some point during that time. Ben worked with him when he was doing his pediatric rotation and suggested him to be Charlotte's doctor. We also have another doctor, Dr. Judy, that we see if Dr. Shahid's schedule is full. We love her too.
He got really shy when we asked if they could take a picture together but was so adorably smiley with her.

the past few days..

This little stinker is fitting into her 3 - 6 month clothes (finally) as displayed below with her dress. It's good that she can wear them because we have so many in that size that we could probably clothe an entire village of 3 - 6 month old babies.

Just back from church. Ben's to the left of me hence her smiling off to the side.
Yesterday we went downtown in Chicago to the St. Patrick's Day festivities. We've done it every year and it's a lot of fun to go for a little while until all of the drunks get crazy (which is usually by 1 pm).
Charlotte on the 'L' after a long day downtown.
Riding in her spaceship.
I love this sign. They have the best hum baos.
Enjoying all of the green water that they dye.
At the Chicago River.

My little love bug.
She loved the bagpipes but hated the drums as seen below.
Overall the parade experience was a disaster. It rained, she hated the drums, and she had a HUGE blowout. So I had to take her back in the park, strip her naked in the freezing rain/wind, wipe her down, and put her in a completely different outfit as she screamed bloody murder. Luckily she got in a better mood after that when we went to see the river to take pictures and out to eat. PLUS the parade (which does have a few cool aspects) is full of large groups of Irish people walking in green... Ben and I are both Irish and plan on walking in it next year with another "clan" of Irishman.
This is what happens when at 4 in the morning Ben goes to get the hungry crying baby. He feeds her in bed and sleeps with her.
Charlotte doesn't spit up or barf ever. She's probably done it a dozen times in her little life. I found this shirt a week or so ago and what does she do that day at the sitter's? Barf all over them. hehehehehe....
And another time Ben let her sleep with us. The two of us had gotten up, showered, ate breakfast, and dressed and she still laid there asleep. I dropped her off that day in her pjs... =)
* And if anyone was wondering I did go back to work a week and a half ago and it stinks. I stare at the clock all day and rush out the second I can leave. Luckily the two women I leave her with adore her and she has a good time with them and luckily I only have two and a half months of teaching until the summer and a mini retirement from teaching for a few years. I'll miss teaching but I miss my baby more.

okay, I'm ready...

I just need a pool... warm weather... well, maybe not living in Chicago would help...

I must have told the best joke to make her fall over laughing...
Thankfully we're going to Austin, TX in a few weeks where it's in the 70's. So her little suit will be used soon. Hallelujah!

you bought what for $120 ?!!

Oh, I bought 4 blouses, 5 skirts, 17 dresses, 9 jeans, 1 pair of overalls, 9 shorts, 5 jackets, 4 pjs, 18 pants (khakis, stretch, corduroy), 6 swimsuits, 8 onesies, 12 short sleeved shirts , 6 long sleeved shirts, 2 pairs of sandals, 2 pairs of sneakers, 3 dress shoes, and a Graco stroller frame. All clothes range from 6 months to 4T. And might I add that they are almost all BabyGap, Ralph Lauren, Gymboree, Children's Place, Old Navy, or Carters that are in great condition. Twice a year I volunteer at this consignment sale where I get baby clothes ridiculously cheap. As you can tell by my mother load above for only $120. It may look like too many clothes for this girl, but it ranges over the first few years of her life. At the last sale in Sept. I got 0 - 9 month clothes. The last half an hour of the sale you can buy a garbage bag for five bucks and fill it up with whatever you want... so awesome...

* I know I'm a dork for putting everything out, taking a picture of it, and then posting it... but it's just too exciting not to share...

somebody loves to go swinging

Last week it was sunny (and cold) so I took Charlotte to the park behind our house to go on the swings for the first time and she loved it. She would stick out her tuck like a puppy to 'taste' the air. Her little hands and nose started getting cold so I took her off of the swing to go home and she bawled. There are videos below of her first and second time at the park (Ben got to go with us the second time).
at the park
all bundled up ready to go play
loving it

three months young...

This little pumpkin is three months old! When we went to REI over the weekend I plopped her on a scale and she weighed a little over 13 lbs. She gabs all of the time and does a little screech and whimper when she's done playing and wants you to rescue her. If you don't get her fast enough she puckers out her lower lip and bawls. She loves to walk around with you as you do chores and leans her little cheek against yours. She has rolled over from her tummy to her back a handful of times and grabs/swats at her toys now. She was sleeping a solid 7 straight hours until she got sick and went on a two week vacation to Washington. We're definitely working on the sleeping again. She pulls out my hair and grabs small amounts of skin and pinches the heck out of it.. it hurts.
she has found the hypnotic effect of the television... it doesn't matter how I face or move her around, she tries to find the t.v.

still loves snuggling with daddy
she loves baths - minus the washing of her armpits
she loves putting everything in her mouth... including her tiny fist... which makes her slobber everywhere - hence the emergence of bibs

she's a big smiler

she's my best little girl friend
